Do you know that you all are really talented that you can know and learn Economics?
But, I often find that either before taking the subject or while choosing the subject, you are
a little bit lacking your confidence. Little bit frightened.
In this regard, I want to share a little story with you… This story has motivated me a lot. I am
sure! This story will motivate you to overcome your fear.
Once, two brothers were playing in their village field. The elder one, Jiten, was of 15 and the
younger one, Nitin, was of 6. Jiten was tall, fat, and a little bit heavy. But, Nitin was really
short and weak.
The field was at a remote place from the village and it was the time of sunny hours. The
scorching heat was really painful to bear. But real fun and happiness can make you forget
any hindrance to incur the moment. They were spending good times together in the field.
There was none within few miles. But, they were very happy and full of life in doing there
ridiculous and fun stuffs. After few hours, the elder brother, Jiten, became thirsty and went
to a nearby well beside the field to drink water.
Suddenly an accident took place in their life. The elder brother had fallen in the well.
Then, the 6-year- old boy, Nitin, was in big trouble. He could not even move for few seconds
and became totally blank at that moment. He could neither leave his brother in that
situation nor ran away to ask for help. Moreover, he had little time in his hand to do
anything for his brother as because his brother did not know swimming.
Suddenly, a bucket, bound with a rope, took his attention and he took a time of 2 to 3
seconds to throw the bucket into the well and he shouted with full courage, “Brother! Catch
it tightly and come up. I am here to pull you up. Don’t worry. I AM HERE.”
Here, the struggle began. The little boy thought about nothing but his brother who was in
danger. With lots of courage, he started to try to prove that he and only he could save his
Nitin started to pull his brother up and didn’t stop until he could pull his brother totally out of
the well. Blood, sweat, and fatigue were trying to push him towards giving up.
But, the love for his brother and his courage was making him stronger and increasing his
patience. The will power was growing every moment in him when he was thinking that his
only companion, his buddy, will not be there.
At the end, Nitin successfully pull his elder brother out of the well and rush to Jiten to hug
They are now full with lots of happiness and mood of celebration for this achievement of life
– togetherness. They can’t express their feelings but their happiness was reflecting in there
tears – the tears of joy.
But the situation becomes more complicated now. The whole village, even their parents,
could not accept that truth because it was next to impossible for a little child like Nitin to pull
up his brother as because he was much heavy.
At that moment, an old and sincere gentleman, whom everyone used to obey for his realistic
view about life came there.
He had listened to the point of view of all the present villagers and also noticed the words of
the children. His experience could see all the truth in the innocent eyes of the children.
He explored that, “YES! THE CHILD IS INNOCENT AND SPEAKING TRUTH.” One of the villagers
asked him that if the child was not telling lie, how it was possible. The Oldman firmly replied,
“Willpower! It was possible because there was none to tell the child – YOU CANNOT DO THIS
AND THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON WHO IS NITIN … AND ONLY NITIN… TO SAY!! NITIN CAN
